A Book Unlike Any Other

Four years ago, I saw a poem by Shel Silverstein.

This inspired me to write a short story.
The next year, I wanted to participate in a school writing contest. I looked to my life for inspiration.
There was a man who came into the coffee shop (Tim Hortons) that I worked at every morning. He would always order the same thing.
He inspired another short story.
I kept writing, and soon I had three more short stories, all tied together by one character. The last three were easy to write once I knew who the recurring character was going to be.
I compiled them into a short story collection, and published it on Amazon.

This had been four years in the making, and I didn’t know where it would go in the beginning but it all worked out in the end.
Here is the description:
Would immortality be worthwhile, if it were gained at the suffering of others? Would resistance be rewarding, if there was nothing worth fighting for? Would repentance be valuable, if there were no righteous intentions?
This unique collection of short stories explores the depths of the human psyche, and how our own emotions can lead to our undoing.
Excerpt:
She is at the beach again, but this time it is with the man. It is a chilly day, and the wind creates chaotic waves that crash onto the shore like soldiers storming into battle. Her hair is as unruly as the wildflowers she once used to love, and her eyes are as dark and heavy as the clouds above her. She waits for the man’s answer, her question hanging above them like anchors waiting to drown hidden horrors. Finally, he opens his mouth.
“Be careful what you wish for.”
